[U.S. OCC: Nine Major Banks Restricted Digital Asset Firms from Accessing Services Citing Reputational Risks] According to an official press release from the U.S. Office of the Comptroller of the Currency (OCC), the OCC has released a 'de-banking' review report targeting the nine largest national banks under its supervision. The report found that between 2020 and September 2025, JPMorgan Chase, Bank of America, Citibank, Wells Fargo, U.S. Bank, Capital One, PNC, TD Bank, and BMO had policies that may have denied or restricted services based on political or religious views or lawful business activities. The restricted industries included digital asset activities, as well as oil and gas, coal, firearms and ammunition, detention facilities, and tobacco. The OCC reviewed nearly 100,000 complaints and approximately 420,000 pages of documents during this investigation. OCC head Jonathan Gould stated that he has 'no confidence' in whether the recent rectifications by these banks are sufficient, and the OCC will evaluate further adjustments to the regulatory framework for large banks.
