In 2022 there was a pretty large share of market participants who thought the Fed hiking to 2% fed funds would vaporize the economy immediately. They were obviously hyperbolic and dead wrong. Claiming that a 6% long bond is now a magic red line in the sand beyond which the economy gets vaporized has an identical vibe.
