[Fuel Shortages Erupt Across Indonesia, Bali Gas Station Queues Stretch Over One Kilometer]
According to Deep Tide TechFlow, on October 14, Indonesia's public service oversight agency reported that fuel shortages have emerged in Bali and other regions due to delays in maritime transportation, bottlenecks in fuel distribution, and a shift by consumers toward purchasing subsidized fuel. Abdul Ghoffar, an official from Indonesia's Ombudsman, stated at a press conference in Jakarta on Wednesday that fuel queues in areas such as the tourist hotspot Bali and the major manufacturing hub West Java Province have exceeded one kilometer in length. He added that parts of resource-rich Sumatra and Sulawesi islands are also facing shortages of subsidized diesel and gasoline. The agency believes that, as Southeast Asia's largest economy, Indonesia's current fuel supply disruption is primarily caused by an imbalance between supply and demand, inefficiencies in gas station services, rising demand for subsidized fuel, and logistical obstacles. This week, Bali's fuel shortages have disrupted school and work schedules, with some drivers forced to wait in line for hours to refuel. (Jin10)
