[IEA Warns of Prolonged Global Diesel Supply Tightness Until Next Year, Slow Recovery in Middle East Exports Drags Market] Deep Tide TechFlow reports that on October 14, the International Energy Agency (IEA) stated that despite recent recovery in crude oil transportation, the recovery of refined oil exports from the Middle East remains slow. Global diesel supply is expected to remain tight for an extended period into next year. The IEA noted that global diesel supply decreased by 1.7 million barrels per day in the third quarter of this year, primarily due to the Iran war disrupting passage through the Strait of Hormuz, a critical route for transporting large volumes of oil and refined products. Additionally, Russia, a major global exporter of refined oil products, was forced to cut production after its refineries were attacked by Ukraine. IEA data shows that during the first nine months of 2026, global diesel exports averaged 4.7 million barrels per day, a year-on-year decline of 10%. In September, the combined net diesel exports from the Middle East and Russia dropped by more than 60%. The IEA stated that the recent recovery in crude oil transportation has not led to a corresponding recovery in diesel supply due to ongoing impacts on refinery operations, refined oil export capacity, and regional logistics caused by geopolitical conflicts.
