Do we really need a flip-flopping mayor?
Take a look at how Alexa Loo’s policy positions have repeatedly shifted during her political career.
First instance: Supervised injection sites, changing her vote in 8 days
On February 5, 2024, Alexa Loo voted in favor of studying the establishment of a supervised injection site at Richmond Hospital. The motion passed 8:1.
By February 13, after facing significant public protests, she changed her vote to oppose it. The motion ultimately passed 7:2.
She explained that her change was due to public feedback and her belief that the original motion’s wording was not clear enough.
Second instance: Supportive housing, from supporting renewal to opposing it
In January 2024, Alexa Loo participated in approving the renewal of supportive housing at Aster Place.
On July 20, 2026, she joined Kash Heed in opposing a three-year extension for the same facility.
She stated that her views on this housing model had changed, placing greater emphasis on treatment, management, and community safety.
Of course, politicians can adjust their policies based on new evidence and public opinion. But when positions on major public safety issues shift repeatedly, voters have the right to demand a clear explanation: What exactly changed her judgment?
Now, mayoral candidate Rob Howard has already made a clear commitment in his official campaign platform: Ban supervised injection sites in Richmond.
So, here’s the question for Alexa Loo @alexaloo:
In this mayoral race, to win over Chinese voters, will you also follow Rob Howard’s lead and formally release a clear, specific, and publicly accountable anti-drug declaration?
