Pyth vs. Chainlink: What's the difference in their current business focus?
Pyth mainly does two things:
1. It allows exchanges and market makers to directly report their own quotes, which is super fast and especially suitable for perpetual contracts. According to official data, 94% of RWA perpetual contracts in Q3 used Pyth's pricing.
2. It sells market data to traditional institutions, which is currently its primary revenue source.
The previously reported $11 million in revenue mostly came from this.
Chainlink, on the other hand, was the first to develop oracles and has a relatively mature network and nodes. Its main focus is bringing off-chain asset prices (like crypto prices, stock prices, fund NAVs, etc.) on-chain, which is used in protocols like lending and derivatives to determine liquidation events.
This fundamental difference in business logic sets Pyth and Chainlink apart. Pyth relies on centralized institutions to actively report data, while Chainlink depends on nodes to fetch it. This distinction shapes their respective business domains, where both shine in their own ways.

solana:HZ1JovNiVvGrGNiiYvEozEVgZ58xaU3RKwX8eACQBCt3, due to its active reporting mechanism, updates faster and can achieve millisecond-level speeds. This makes it ideal for high-frequency demands, allowing Pyth's real-time market data to be sold to trading firms, brokerages, and financial institutions.
If asset tokenization grows 10x or 20x in the future, this type of service will be indispensable. While it doesn’t necessarily mean it will be insanely profitable, in terms of narrative and concept, it’s definitely a hot topic for speculation.
