Anthropic published a post on its engineering blog stating that the company has developed its own version control system, Scion, and fully migrated its monorepo from Git within five months. Anthropic noted that its daily code changes merged increased from approximately 2,500 times in May this year to over 30,000 times in September. The previously human-oriented development infrastructure, rather than one designed for AI agents, had become a bottleneck. According to the introduction, Scion was developed by a team of seven, and its infrastructure's CPU and memory usage has been reduced by approximately 200 times compared to the previous Git mirror solution. The time required for CI and research tasks to pull code has been shortened from several minutes to just a few seconds. Anthropic emphasized that Scion is not a general-purpose replacement for Git and is currently only sharing its design concepts.
