Patience + no FOMO can reduce most losses and improve win rates. Although the U.S. stock market doesn’t have opportunities every day, there’s usually a chance every few months to catch a 10%-30% dip-buying or peak-selling opportunity. For example, in July, SK Hynix’s IPO provided a clear signal to sell at the peak, and after the rate hike pause at the end of July, the market started to rebound. Later, the U.S. Treasury yield issue became a hot topic, coupled with rising rate hike expectations, leading to a frustrating period of choppy market movements. Then, after several data points fully priced in the rate hike expectations, the dip on September 16 when the rate hike was confirmed became another relatively clear opportunity. When it comes to swing trading, it’s all about sectors. For instance, hardware storage was clearly just a dead cat bounce after every rally during the capital hype phase, and holding onto it felt very uncomfortable. That’s why I’ve repeatedly emphasized not to re-enter the storage sector. As for when this situation will end, I honestly don’t know—at least there’s no clear trend in sight. Momentum later shifted to sectors like cloud, optics, software, and cybersecurity, which have gradually become better choices for swing trading. If you’re not chasing those multi-bagger opportunities, the U.S. stock market is actually quite suitable for a more laid-back, retirement-style approach. Lower trading frequency means more time to think, live, and focus on health. Right now, both primary and secondary markets are in a high-valuation phase, with several major AI models already reaching trillion-dollar levels. Objectively, the primary market has already exhausted those multi-bagger opportunities, and it’s hard to find undervalued tech stocks with such potential anymore. As long as you don’t overthink it, you’ll find that trading stocks can actually be pretty enjoyable. Stick to the principle of buying low and selling high, and avoid unnecessary FOMO.
