Wu Blockchain has learned that Kostas Chalkias, Chief Cryptographer at Mysten Labs, the core development company behind Sui, revealed that the Sui Devnet has completed testing for native post-quantum signature transactions. The latest version now supports ML-DSA-65 post-quantum signature verification, which will be used for transaction authorization of regular accounts in the future. Additionally, there are plans to introduce SLH-DSA-SHA2-128s signatures via Move smart contracts to protect high-value asset vaults. Existing accounts will be able to derive post-quantum keys from their original mnemonic phrases and update authorization keys using the address alias feature without needing to transfer assets. Sui aims to deploy post-quantum vaults to the mainnet by the end of 2026 and introduce native ML-DSA-65 accounts to the testnet, targeting native account authentication on the mainnet by Q1 2027. Progress will depend on security audits and testing results.
