[Proposal to Enable ENSv2: New .eth Registrations to Be Suspended for Several Hours During Transition] Odaily Planet Daily News: Ethereum Name Service (ENS) protocol founder Nick Johnson has submitted an executable draft proposal, suggesting that the decentralized autonomous organization (DAO) approve the activation of ENSv2 on the Ethereum mainnet. Once the upgrade is approved, the original ENS registrar will suspend new domain registrations, while existing domain holders will still be able to renew their domains. ENSv2 will introduce a more flexible domain management and permission architecture. After domain record synchronization is completed, new .eth registrations will migrate to the upgraded system. During the transition period, new registrations on both systems may be suspended for several hours. Existing domain holders do not need to migrate, and their domains will remain functional. ENS Labs plans to transfer the remaining management permissions of the upgrade contract to the DAO. The proposal is currently in the draft stage and must go through the on-chain DAO voting process. According to governance rules, executable proposals must receive participation from at least 1 million ENS tokens and achieve majority support within a 7-day voting period. Once approved, the proposal will also require a minimum two-day time lock. The voting date has not yet been announced. (Cointelegraph)
