[KB Securities: Korean Chip Stocks Decline, Possibly Reflecting Investor Doubts About Profit Sustainability] Odaily Planet Daily News – KB Securities analysts E.T. Lee and D.E. Lee stated that although the AI boom has kept semiconductor companies' profit expectations high, the decline in Korean chip stocks may partly reflect investor doubts about the sustainability of these profits. Samsung Electronics and SK Hynix shares have fallen for the fifth consecutive trading day. The analysts wrote in their report, 'Investors still seem to view semiconductors as a cyclical industry and remain skeptical about the sector's ability to generate sustained profits.' They noted that while supply bottlenecks can drive profit surges during boom periods, the eventual easing of these bottlenecks could lead to inventory surpluses and overinvestment. They also added that similar patterns have been observed in industries such as post-pandemic diagnostic test kits, masks, toilet paper, and container shipping. (Jin10)
