[Bank of England: No Rush to Launch Digital Pound 'Britcoin']
According to Bloomberg, Bank of England Deputy Governor Sarah Breeden stated during the International Monetary Fund (IMF) annual meeting that the UK is currently not in a hurry to launch a central bank digital currency (CBDC) for public use, namely the digital pound 'Britcoin.' Whether to proceed with the digital pound project depends on whether other innovative payment solutions, such as commercial stablecoins and tokenized bank deposits, can achieve the benefits brought by tokenization. She also emphasized the hope that UK businesses can develop successful pound-denominated stablecoins to prevent UK residents and businesses from relying solely on dollar stablecoins to access innovative payment services.
