David Sacks Reiterates: The Best Entity to Prevent Model Distillation is Enterprises, Not Governments

David Sacks posted that Anthropic stated it has reduced the data extracted from Claude during distillation attacks by approximately 90% to 99%. Sacks congratulated them on this achievement. He took the opportunity to reiterate the viewpoint he expressed in Episode 282 of All-In: the best entity to prevent model distillation is enterprises, not governments. He pointed out that Washington had previously attempted to restrict open models based on intellectual property concerns. However, Nvidia, Microsoft, Meta, IBM, Palantir, Dell, and 50 other companies, along with nearly 200 startups, issued an open letter opposing the restrictions, and ultimately, the government did not implement the proposed limitations.
