⚡️The International Monetary Fund (IMF) just made a very contradictory statement: "AI investments will boost global growth next year." "But the resilience of the world economy is nearing its limit." On one hand, AI is pulling things up, while on the other, the global economy is sinking. IMF's exact words: Global growth will accelerate to 3.4% by 2027, with this year's forecast at 3.1%. But in the same report, they listed three reasons why the world might not "hold up": 1. Energy reserves are running out. Since the U.S. attacked Iran, the world has been depleting its reserves to cope with supply shortages. If the conflict continues, these reserves will eventually hit rock bottom. 2. The AI boom comes with global financial risks. AI has driven demand for hardware and may lead to productivity gains. But it’s also pushing up debt and valuations. 3. Bond yields are soaring, making deficit reduction urgent. IMF Chief Economist Pierre-Olivier Gourinchas said: "The global economy has been resilient, but this resilience is nearing its limit." Global economic growth is being fueled by AI, but the risks are coming from AI and debt together. When AI's boost can no longer offset the drag from energy, debt, and interest rates, the global economy will shift from "resilient" to "unable to hold up." This isn’t a prediction; it’s the IMF giving an early warning. The risk of a global financial crisis is quietly building. Meanwhile, the market is still partying over AI.
