The U.S. Federal Election Commission (FEC) has disclosed that two cryptocurrency political action committees under Fairshake, Defend American Jobs and Protect Progress, spent approximately $2.7 million ahead of the midterm elections to support advertising and direct mail campaigns for Democratic and Republican House candidates. This includes $512,000 for Pete Aguilar, $500,000 for Josh Gottheimer, over $76,000 for Tom Emmer, and $73,000 for Glenn Thompson. All of these candidates had previously voted in favor of the CLARITY Act. Fairshake had earlier announced plans to support an additional 32 House candidates. As of August, the organization held $122 million in cash and planned to spend at least $30 million to block former Senator Sherrod Brown, who opposes crypto industry legislation, from returning to Congress.
