[Analysis: Bitcoin's Return to $84,500 Awaits CPI Catalyst, Short-Term Focus on $81,300 Support]
Deep Tide TechFlow reports that on October 12, the latest Bitfinex Alpha report indicated that whether Bitcoin can reclaim $84,500 this week will depend on whether U.S. CPI data alters market expectations for interest rates and yields, as well as whether spot market buying can follow through. This pullback is similar to multiple adjustments during previous recovery phases, as investors holding positions within the original trading range have not shown significant selling. However, spot buying remains a relatively weak link in the current market. The average holding cost for Bitcoin ETF investors is approximately $84,340, and with the current price below this level, some investors may choose to sell when the rebound approaches their cost basis.
The analysis suggests that if this week's core CPI month-over-month increase is 0.2% or lower, it could reduce market expectations for rate hikes and push yields lower, providing room for BTC to rise. Conversely, if core CPI reaches 0.3% or higher, it may continue to suppress the performance of risk assets. In the short term, BTC may fluctuate within the $81,300 to $84,500 range. If the price breaks through and stabilizes above $84,500, coupled with strong ETF fund flows, the market may retest the $87,722 opening level from the beginning of the year. However, if it falls below $81,300 with sustained capital outflows, it could further decline to the real market average level of approximately $77,400.
