Can Crude Maintain 2026 Gains vs. Gold Into Year-End? Gold faces headwinds into year-end from the highest US Treasury five-year yields in two decades, partly due to oil's 2026 bounce. Bounce is emphasized, as WTI crude's 1Q high near $120 a barrel was below 2022's peak of $130, and oil was at about $90 on Oct. 9, little changed from 2007. That contrasts with gold's 1Q record near $5,600 an ounce. Crude has been in a lower highs and lows pattern since 2008's peak near $147, while gold has been in a bull market but may have set an enduring high. What to expect into year-end?
