Whoa, the big guys are hyping up a quantum-resistant version of Zcash again: QTC. Genesis pre-mined 27% right off the bat, not even pretending anymore Quantus really knows how to craft a narrative: quantum-resistant + privacy + PoW + 21 million cap. They swapped the signature to NIST-standardized lattice-based ML-DSA and use zero-knowledge proofs for private transactions. Mainnet goes live on September 9, and by October 6, it’ll integrate with NEAR Intents, allowing assets like BTC, ETH, SOL, and ZEC to be swapped directly for QTC. Basically, a new L1 chain that was almost completely isolated from the outside world now finally gets a trading gateway and liquidity through NEAR. Balaji led the second round of funding, with AngelList co-founder Babak Nivi and Mert also investing. Even Bankless pointed out that this group overlaps heavily with the same people who were loudly hyping Zcash last year. Last year it was Zcash, this year NEAR, and now Quantus. I can already guess what kind of scenes we’ll see on X next. Total supply is 21 million, very Bitcoin-esque. Genesis minted 5.67 million coins, which is 27% of the total supply. Of that, 23% goes to investors, founders, and the team, while 4% is reserved for the company. The remaining 73% will be mined via PoW. Even though most of it has a 1-year lockup and 3-year linear vesting, this is a new chain that keeps preaching Bitcoin values, trust, and decentralization. Yet before miners can even mine a few blocks, the insiders have already pocketed over a quarter of the total supply. Bitcoin might face quantum migration issues in the future, so QTC gives you a clean quantum-resistant system from day one. But it hasn’t built a decade of network effects, doesn’t have a holder base, and lacks deep liquidity. Yet they’ve already allocated 27% of the genesis supply. They used to at least pretend to be fair with mining. Now? No pretense, just straight-up pre-mining.
