[24 Accounts Compromised, 6.61 BTC Stolen: Blink Releases Attack Review and Offers Reward of up to 3.3 BTC]
Odaily Planet Daily News – According to monitoring by Bitcoin News, Blink has released a full review of the September 19 attack: the incident resulted in the theft of a total of 6.61 BTC from 24 customer accounts. The company stated that the vulnerability had existed since October 2023, allowing any user with a free Blink account to potentially gain customer service-level access, take over customer accounts, and increase withdrawal limits.
The attackers also obtained partial information from 3,817 accounts, including some phone numbers and email addresses; however, names, identification documents, addresses, passwords, and mnemonic phrases were not leaked. None of the 24 compromised accounts had two-factor authentication enabled. The attackers attempted 18 withdrawals from 9 accounts protected by two-factor authentication but were unsuccessful.
Blink shareholders have fully compensated all affected customers. Approximately 5 BTC of the stolen funds were later transferred via cross-chain exchange services. Blink is now offering a reward of up to approximately 3.3 BTC, with half of any successfully recovered funds to be distributed to those providing valid leads and the Bitcoin circular economy.
