Yesterday, while in Belrock, I reflected on how far this community has come.
More than 20 years ago, Belrock was caught up in gang warfare. Families were forced to leave their homes, and people could not live here in peace. Over the last decade, the community has experienced a period of peace and stability, and I want to see that continue.
Belrock is a close-knit community where people know and look out for each other. Poverty is a reality here, but it must never be seen as an excuse for crime. The vast majority of people here are law-abiding citizens who want to live peacefully and provide for their families.
As a Government, we will continue to invest in communities like Belrock and support the people who are doing the right thing.
