We will invest an additional KSh7.5 billion to build 3,000 housing units under the Affordable Housing Programme in Lamu County in readiness for the development of the Dangote East Africa Refinery. This investment is additional to the other housing projects in the county, including modern markets and student hostels, with a combined investment of KSh6 billion. We urge the private sector to invest in complementary facilities and services, including hotels and other accommodation facilities, to meet the anticipated demand as the county prepares for an influx of workers and visitors. Further, we will establish a standing committee comprising officials from the National Government and Lamu County to address concerns raised by residents over the project.
