[Atkins Publishes Post Outlining SEC's Crypto Regulatory Roadmap, Says More Proposals Are on the Way]
According to a report by Jinse Finance on October 3, SEC Chairman Atkins stated on his X account that he has issued a statement detailing the custody rule proposal: the current custody provisions under the Investment Advisers Act and the Investment Company Act 'predate the advent of the internet,' and custody capabilities often lag by several months after new assets are launched. The proposal aims to fill this gap. He also outlined the crypto regulatory sequence under the current SEC — ending 'regulation by enforcement,' the no-action letter for the DTC securities tokenization pilot by December 2025, the classification standards for tokenized securities by January 2026, the broker-dealer registration guidance for tokenized securities trading interfaces by April, the Regulation Crypto Assets issuance framework proposal by August, as well as the 'innovation exemptions.' He further announced that 'more regulatory proposals are on the way.'
