[Anchorage Digital Layoffs 17%: Approximately 68 Positions Cut Due to Market Downturn]
Deep Tide TechFlow reports that on October 3, according to Cointelegraph, cryptocurrency media outlet The Information cited insider sources stating that federally chartered U.S. digital asset bank Anchorage Digital has reduced its workforce by 17%. CEO Nathan McCauley informed employees of this change earlier this week. Based on Anchorage's disclosed workforce size of approximately 400 employees during a congressional hearing in February this year, this round of layoffs may involve around 68 positions. The report noted that the prolonged downturn in the cryptocurrency market over the past year is the underlying factor behind this workforce reduction. Although Bitcoin recently briefly rebounded above $87,000, it remains significantly below its previous peak of $126,000. Nevertheless, the institution, valued at $4.2 billion, continues to expand its business footprint. It has recently garnered attention for its involvement in issuing Tether's stablecoin USAT and securing $100 million in strategic investment from the organization.
