[QCP: Bitcoin's recent rally driven more by capital flows and positioning, tonight's non-farm payrolls report is a key short-term test]
Deep Tide TechFlow reports, on October 2, QCP Capital stated that Bitcoin broke out of its recent consolidation range of $82,500 to $85,700, briefly rising to $86,913, marking a new high since September 23. Meanwhile, the annualized funding rate for perpetual contracts is approximately 5.4%, indicating that this rally is driven more by spot capital rather than leverage. In August and September, U.S. spot Bitcoin ETFs recorded net inflows of approximately $3.5 billion and $2.6 billion, respectively.
QCP believes that Bitcoin's recent 12% rally, occurring in an environment where U.S. Treasury real yields are rising and gold fell 8.5% in September, is more consistent with a market driven by capital inflows, regulatory catalysts, and positioning adjustments, rather than a fundamental resolution of macroeconomic pressures.
Tonight, the U.S. September non-farm payrolls report will serve as a key short-term test. If wage growth weakens and drives U.S. Treasury yields lower, it could provide a more direct macro catalyst for Bitcoin's further rise. Conversely, stronger wage data could reinforce expectations of a Federal Reserve rate hike in December, putting pressure on risk assets.
