[Illinois Proposes 6-Month Delay for 0.2% Crypto Asset Tax Implementation] Odaily Planet Daily News: Following a lawsuit filed by a cryptocurrency industry organization, Illinois government officials have agreed to postpone the implementation date of the 0.2% digital asset tax from January 1, 2027, to July 1, 2027, to allow time to address related legal disputes. The delay arrangement still requires court approval. The Digital Chamber filed the lawsuit in July, arguing that the tax provisions were included in the state budget without sufficient discussion and public feedback. The organization stated that the delay does not mean the tax has been repealed, and they will continue to seek to overturn the tax through litigation. Additionally, the Illinois Department of Revenue previously released a draft of the digital asset tax implementation guidelines and opened a public comment period until October 30. (Cointelegraph)
