According to Wu Blockchain, Osmosis announced that two proposals aim to withdraw inactive community pool liquidity and burn the reclaimed OSMO, totaling approximately 17.4 million tokens. This would increase the total amount of OSMO burned to date by 65%. The proposals were initiated by JohnnyWyles on the forum on September 30, with the target on-chain date set for October 3, 2026.
The first proposal seeks to withdraw four static concentrated liquidity positions directly held by the community pool, as well as the NTRN/OSMO position funded by Proposal 700. The reclaimed OSMO will be burned, ETH will be returned as-is, and other assets will be converted to BTC before being returned to the community pool. The four static positions are valued at approximately $418,000, primarily consisting of 8 million OSMO from the stOSMO/OSMO replenishment pool.
The second proposal addresses the cessation of Margined’s custodial liquidity service. It plans to withdraw the remaining OSMO liquidity staking token pairs and ETH/BTC custodial vault positions from the community pool. This would directly reclaim about 8.1 million OSMO, with an additional 1.27 million OSMO redeemed from bOSMO, totaling approximately 9.4 million OSMO to be burned. ETH and BTC will be returned to the community pool, with a recoverable value of around $342,000.
Both proposals will be executed by the Osmosis Liquidity SubDAO via a 4/6 multisig, and the OSMO will be sent to a burn address.
