[Fiserv Digital Asset Platform Launches 'White-Label' Model, Making Stablecoins a Standard Feature for Banks]
According to a report by Forkast News on October 2, as cited by Jinse Finance, payment technology giant Fiserv officially launched its digital asset platform on October 1. The USD stablecoin 'Roughrider Coin,' issued by the Bank of North Dakota, became the first deployment, operating on Solana's Token-2022 standard. The pilot program covers over 90 banks and credit unions in the state.
Unlike consortium models such as OUSD, Fiserv adopts a white-label infrastructure approach: minting, burning, custody, and reserve management are outsourced to OCC-chartered bank VersaBank, with Fireblocks providing the underlying infrastructure. The platform is open to its approximately 10,000 financial institution clients at no additional cost, accessible via the Fiserv Commercial Center. It supports functionalities such as stablecoin issuance, cross-border payments, programmable commerce, treasury automation, and tokenized deposits.
Compliance is anchored in the framework of Section 4(c) of the GENIUS Act, which pertains to 'state-qualified issuers with assets under $10 billion.'
