[European Regulators Investigate Binance's Use of MiCA Exemption to Serve EU Customers]
Odaily Planet Daily reports that the European Securities and Markets Authority (ESMA), along with regulators from France, Germany, and Greece, are investigating Binance's use of the reverse solicitation exemption under the Markets in Crypto-Assets Regulation (MiCA) to provide services to certain EU customers without authorization. This exemption only applies in cases where customers fully and proactively engage with non-EU crypto asset service providers. Binance withdrew its MiCA authorization application in Greece in June and stated that it would apply for authorization in another EU member state. ESMA recently called for stronger enforcement powers against non-EU companies soliciting European investors without MiCA authorization to enhance the consistency of EU regulatory actions.
