[EU Questions Binance Over Failure to Cease Operations as Required]
Foresight News reports, according to the Financial Times, that EU regulators are questioning Binance's continued service to EU users after failing to obtain a MiCA license.
Binance previously failed to secure authorization under the EU's Markets in Crypto-Assets Regulation (MiCA) by the July 1, 2026 deadline, withdrew its application in Greece, and was instructed to orderly wind down its EU operations. However, the company has continued to provide services to some EU users through exemptions like 'reverse solicitation' and by routing certain transactions through its Abu Dhabi entity.
The European Securities and Markets Authority (ESMA) has directly contacted Binance, requesting confirmation on whether it has genuinely executed the wind-down process, rather than continuing operations under other pretexts.
