HSBC Announces Hong Kong Stablecoin Named 'HSBC RedCoin,' Plans Phased Rollout

Foresight News reports that HSBC has announced the name of its upcoming stablecoin to be launched in Hong Kong as HSBC RedCoin. The bank plans to adopt a phased approach, initially focusing on peer-to-peer (P2P) transfers and peer-to-merchant (P2M) payments, before expanding to enterprise and institutional-level applications. HSBC also released the results of its latest survey of over 1,000 local customers, which revealed strong market interest and readiness. Among the respondents, 74% were familiar with at least one application scenario for stablecoins. Leading the list were digital asset trading and tokenized investments (57%), followed by personal transfers (53%), cross-border remittances (52%), and merchant payments (52%).
