[Kakao Pay Securities Partners with Dinari and ONDO to Advance Tokenization of Korean Stocks]
According to Deep Tide TechFlow on September 30, as reported by Cointelegraph, South Korean brokerage Kakao Pay Securities announced agreements with Dinari and Ondo Finance to explore the tokenization of Korean-listed stocks and distribute them to international market investors.
In the collaboration with Dinari, the two parties will utilize its dShares model for a proof of concept (PoC), focusing on addressing issues related to preserving shareholder rights, such as dividends and voting rights. Dinari CEO Gabe Otte stated that the collaboration aims to expand the application of Korean stocks, with the project using actual Korean shares as underlying assets rather than tokens that merely track prices. Currently, the specific list of Korean-listed companies has not been finalized, nor has a commercialization timeline been announced.
The initial phase of the partnership with Ondo Finance will focus on establishing a framework for the acquisition and custody of Korean shares. Kakao Pay will set up a comprehensive account for foreign investors to manage assets. The two parties will also explore mechanisms for token issuance and redemption. The project team emphasized that any commercialization decisions will depend on compliance with local and international legal regulations.
