🇺🇸 LATEST: U.S. long-term unemployment is rising at a pace “unprecedented outside recessions,” per Bloomberg. Nearly 1.93 MILLION Americans had been unemployed for at least 27 weeks in August, an increase of 155,000. They now account for 27% of all unemployed Americans, meaning more than ONE IN FOUR have been out of work for over six months. Bloomberg reports that the average job search has also stretched beyond six months, the longest since the mid-2010s outside the pandemic. The headline unemployment rate looks relatively low. For those already out of work, finding a way back is getting harder.
