According to Wu Blockchain, a16z crypto investor Robbie Peterson shared a post stating that blockchain is lowering the barriers to market creation caused by listing reviews, legal frameworks, and geographic restrictions in traditional financial markets through permissionless issuance and global distribution. The article mentions that by July 2026, the annualized on-chain trading volume of RWA perpetual contracts is expected to reach approximately $1.4 trillion. It also highlights that perpetual contracts are driving traditional risk assets like stocks and commodities into 24/7 on-chain trading. Peterson predicts that in the future, on-chain markets could also cover FX, indices, hashrate futures, and macro indicators like CPI.
