[Oman Plans to Expand Oil Storage Capacity Outside the Strait of Hormuz]
According to a report by Golden Finance, on September 29, Oman plans to more than double the oil storage capacity at a port located outside the Strait of Hormuz. The move aims to leverage its strategic geographical advantage to meet the needs of energy producers in the region seeking to bypass this frequently disputed waterway. Ashraf Al Mamari, CEO of Oman's state-owned energy company OQ SAOC, stated that the company is evaluating the purchase of two ultra-large crude carriers (ULCCs) and leasing them for floating storage at Duqm Port. Additionally, the company plans to increase the onshore crude oil storage tank capacity from the current approximately 5 million barrels to 10 million barrels within the next three years.
