The hacker who breached Bitget is once again using Thorchain to move stolen funds. From Bybit to KelpDAO to Balancer, and now Bitget, hackers seem to have reached a consensus on transferring stolen funds via @THORChain. They all seem to favor Thorchain. So far, hackers have moved $100 million worth of stolen funds through the Thorchain DEX. Interestingly, Thorchain DEX recorded its highest single-day revenue of the year yesterday—only $257,000, which isn’t much compared to other protocols. What’s intriguing is that the attack address from the Bitget hack has already been publicly flagged, yet Thorchain still chooses to provide large-scale exchange channels. Thorchain’s response? They claim to be decentralized infrastructure and won’t adopt centralized measures like freezing funds. Here’s the real question: Is this kind of decentralization really worth advocating for?
