[Anthropic Plans to Grant 50.1% Voting Power to Seven Founders to Retain Control Post-IPO]
BlockBeats News, September 25, according to a report by The Information, Anthropic is seeking shareholder approval for a special equity structure that would grant a total of 50.1% voting power to CEO Dario Amodei and six other co-founders. This is intended to ensure that the founding team retains control of the company after it goes public. The arrangement requires at least three founders to continue holding a minimum percentage of company shares.
It is reported that each of Anthropic's seven founders currently holds approximately 2% of the shares. The new equity structure will not provide additional economic benefits but will increase voting power. Meanwhile, Anthropic's long-term benefit trust will remain responsible for electing the majority of board members, with the number of founder board seats increasing from two to three. Employees will also receive shares that can break ties on certain matters.
Anthropic was valued at $96.5 billion in May this year, and its recent secondary market valuation has risen to approximately $1.5 trillion. The proposed IPO is expected to reference this latest valuation. [Original Link]
