[EU EBA Recommends Including Crypto Lending and Certain DeFi Access Services Under MiCA]
According to a report by Jinse Finance, on September 25, the European Banking Authority (EBA) released its response to the consultation on MiCA amendments, recommending that the EU focus on strengthening the regulation of third-country multi-issuer stablecoins, crypto asset classification, and crypto lending. The EBA believes that the current ART and EMT regulatory frameworks are generally appropriate, but multi-issuer stablecoins may pose higher risks, and it is necessary to consider enhancing rules and reviewing reserve asset requirements. Additionally, it suggests clarifying the scope of MiCA's application and asset classification standards, as well as including crypto lending under regulation, such as activities where crypto service providers facilitate user access to DeFi lending protocols. As of September 1, there have been 39 EMT issuances under the MiCA framework, but no ARTs have been authorized yet.
