[Citrea Acquires Privacy Bitcoin Wallet Crest to Promote BTC Privacy Transactions]
According to Deep Tide TechFlow on September 24, as reported by PR Newswire, Bitcoin application layer platform Citrea announced the acquisition of the self-custody private Bitcoin wallet Crest. Supported by Founders Fund and Galaxy Ventures, this acquisition aims to introduce Zcash-style zero-knowledge privacy pools into the Bitcoin ecosystem. Crest founder Meliksah Gurtemel will join Citrea as the Head of Product.
In the coming weeks, Crest will launch a Bitcoin mobile wallet that supports automatic shielding, private BTC transfers, and cross-chain private payments (BTC can be privately exchanged for USDC or ETH and sent to EVM addresses). Citrea co-founder and CEO Orkun Mahir Kılıç stated that addressing Bitcoin's privacy issues is the biggest breakthrough for the Bitcoin layer to meet real user needs. Crest will serve as the primary gateway for users and liquidity to enter Citrea.
