Apple needs to be watching the community response behind the Meta VR glasses right now. It shows that the people YEARN for this form factor to be perfected. If/when Apple delivers a product response in the form of an AVP2 it can’t just be better than Meta VR. It has to be a quantum leap better. They won’t be able to launch a new headset until late 2028/2029 because of their Samsung fabs for their new displays not being online yet. That gives Meta roughly two years to eat into their market share. If Apple comes out with something, that’s just a little bit better, even a lot bit better, it’s not enough. It needs to rock people’s faces. Especially when Apple will need to sell it for probably $2,000+ compared to Meta’s $1,300 subsidized cost. Apple’s response needs to be significant. Meta has fired their shots and two years is a LONG time. If Apple can’t produce a response, they will have ceded the product category.
