Wu Blockchain has learned that Grayscale's September 21 report pointed out that Kraken's parent company, Payward, plans to offer on-chain perpetual contracts to U.S. customers through Hyperliquid's permissioned HIP-3* market. The plan still requires regulatory approval and is proposed to be operated and cleared by Bitnomial, a subsidiary regulated by the CFTC.
Grayscale stated that Hyperliquid's average daily open interest in Q2 2026 was approximately $9 billion, a year-on-year increase of 54%, making it the only platform among major perpetual contract platforms in their analysis to achieve growth. Grayscale believes that if U.S. compliant trading venues adopt Hyperliquid's infrastructure and pay protocol fees, it could potentially increase their fee revenue and support the value of HYPE.
