[Significant Increase in Trading Volume for Multiple Southbound Stock Connect ETFs, Institutional Source: Insurance Funds May Be Buying In] Odaily Planet Daily News - On September 21, the trading volume of several Southbound Stock Connect ETFs included in the mutual market access mechanism saw a significant surge. According to Wind data, the trading volume of the Southern East-West Select ETF (3441) reached HKD 339 million today, whereas its daily trading volume over the past three months consistently remained below HKD 100 million. The Ping An Technology Select ETF (3406) and Ping An East-West Select ETF (3477) both recorded trading volumes exceeding HKD 100 million today, setting new historical highs with a substantial increase in volume. An institutional source revealed that some insurance institutions have recently received relevant detailed guidelines and may have started purchasing Southbound Stock Connect ETFs included in the mutual market access mechanism, with other insurance institutions potentially following suit. Industry experts believe that with the entry of insurance funds into the market, the investor structure of Southbound ETFs is expected to diversify further, bringing more long-term capital to the market, enhancing market activity, and further solidifying Hong Kong's critical role as a hub for cross-border asset allocation.
