The core logic of trading ultimately comes down to mindset.
1. A lot of principles (like 'holding on')—knowing them and knowing them after getting beaten down countless times are two completely different things. And knowing them after countless beatdowns and reflecting on them is yet another level. 'Holding on' might seem like just two simple words, but because it goes against human nature, it's not easy to actually do.
2. At the start of this cycle, I kept emphasizing one point here on X: recognize your own limits, don’t over-leverage yourself. Instead, you should be de-leveraging. That’s the only way to avoid turning a simple market trend into a complex one, and to trade steadily and effectively. What does de-leveraging mean?
It includes:
- Don’t overthink. Wanting $BTC, wanting altcoins, wanting storage, wanting gold, silver, oil—wanting everything.
- Don’t overtrade. Wanting to go long, wanting to go short—wanting to do it all.
- Don’t aim for perfection. Wanting to max out leverage on the way up, fantasizing about catching the absolute top, flipping positions at the top, then fantasizing about flipping again at the absolute bottom...
In a trending market, focusing on one thing and going all-in within your capacity to HOLD is already the limit for most people. That mindset of wanting everything, most of the time, leads to 99% bad outcomes.
Remember the simplest principle: the more you do, the more decisions you make, the more leverage you’re putting on yourself. And this leverage isn’t just financial—it’s mental and emotional.
But human energy and mental endurance have limits. The more you do, the closer you push yourself to those limits, and that’s when mistakes happen.
3. Whether a trading philosophy or viewpoint is correct needs to be backtested. So far, the trading philosophy I’ve evolved in 2026 seems to be an effective upgrade compared to before. (Old followers probably remember how I used to play short-term trades back in the Guilin days.)
