[Turkey Uncovers Transnational Crypto Fraud Network with Transaction Volume of Approximately $266 Million]
According to a report by Jinse Finance on September 20, Turkey's Ministry of Justice stated that Turkish law enforcement has dismantled a transnational network suspected of defrauding foreigners through fake Forex and cryptocurrency investment platforms. A total of 201 suspects have been detained so far. Investigations revealed that the network attracted victims by promoting high-yield investments via social media and the internet. They displayed fake profits on their controlled platforms and, when victims attempted to withdraw funds, demanded additional payments under the pretense of account freezes, taxes, and other reasons. The related funds were then transferred to overseas bank accounts and crypto wallets. Turkish authorities reported that the network's transaction volume over the past two years amounted to approximately 13 billion Turkish lira (around $266 million). Law enforcement has seized assets worth approximately 1.5 billion lira, 80 vehicles, and 12 properties, and has frozen related bank, cryptocurrency, and company accounts.
