[Kalshi Applies to Launch Single-Stock Perpetual Futures in the U.S.]
Odaily Planet Daily reports that prediction market platform Kalshi has submitted an application to offer perpetual futures tied to individual U.S. stocks to American traders. The company has filed a proposed rule change with the U.S. Securities and Exchange Commission (SEC) and submitted the application for approval by the U.S. Commodity Futures Trading Commission (CFTC), though it has not yet been approved. Kalshi stated that the relevant contracts will have no preset expiration date and will maintain price alignment with the underlying stocks through periodic funding fees between long and short positions. The contracts will be treated as security futures products and cleared through its CFTC-registered clearinghouse, Kalshi Klear.
On the same day, cryptocurrency exchange Coinbase submitted a separate application to offer single-stock perpetual futures. Payward, through its subsidiary Bitnomial Exchange, filed a similar application, planning to initially cover 10 U.S. stocks, including Tesla, Nvidia, Apple, Microsoft, and Amazon, with trading available 24/5.
