Since the platform operates as a non-custodial peer-to-peer marketplace, the police were unable to obtain user lists from the operators. Instead, they conducted on-chain tracing analysis using public blockchain transaction records, successfully identifying and locking in the identities of users involved in the case. As of September 15, a total of 26 individuals have been arrested on suspicion of violating Article 246 of the Criminal Act for illegal gambling, with 18 of them already referred to the prosecution. The total amount involved in the case is approximately $12.7 million (about 17.6 billion Korean won), with the largest single trader involved in transactions amounting to $4.1 million. On August 18, the Korea Communications Standards Commission officially blocked access to Polymarket in South Korea.
