[South Korean Police Trace Polymarket Users On-Chain, $12.7 Million in Bets Involved] Odaily Planet Daily News: The Cyber Investigation Department of the Gangwon Special Self-Governing Province Police Agency in South Korea has identified 26 Polymarket users through analysis of public blockchain transaction records and on-chain open-source intelligence, filing cases against them for alleged illegal gambling. Among them, 18 individuals have been referred to the prosecution, with a total of $12.7 million in bets placed, and the highest single-user bet reaching $4.1 million. The police initiated a preliminary investigation in March and began filing cases against those involved starting in May. The Korea Communications Standards Commission only ordered the blocking of Polymarket on August 18, while the transactions under investigation occurred during the period when the platform was still accessible.
