Fun fact:
The biggest Ethereum L2 tenant isn’t Base, and it’s not even Robinhood Chain—it’s Aztec.
Over the past 7 days, the privacy-focused Ethereum L2 chain Aztec has paid a total of $12,000 in rent to the Ethereum settlement layer. The majority of this is for ZK proof verification fees, while a smaller portion is for block space usage, aka DA fees.
Meanwhile, chains like RH Chain and Base, which actually handle the bulk of L2 economic activity, end up paying much less rent to Ethereum L1.
