Claude Code finally officially supports AGENTS.md! The Claude Code 2.1.277 version now officially supports the AGENTS.md standard. Previously, Anthropic refused to support this standard for over a year and gave no response—until Shopify CEO Tobi Lütke threatened to disable Claude Code, prompting a reaction. AGENTS.md is currently the mainstream project instruction file used by coding agents like Codex, Cursor, and almost everyone else except Claude Code, which stubbornly stuck to its own CLAUDE.md format. Finally, 25 days after Tobi Lütke's threat, Claude Code 2.1.277 was released with official support for AGENTS.md. However, it will still prioritize reading CLAUDE.md first. If CLAUDE.md is not present, it will automatically fall back to AGENTS.md. You can toggle this in the /config settings. Now I finally don’t have to use `ln -s` to create a soft link between the two files anymore.
