[Shielded Labs: Zcash Holder Votes Are Non-Binding, No Single Group Can Decide Governance Outcomes]
Odaily Planet Daily News – Shielded Labs CEO Jason McGee stated that Zcash currently employs a "rough consensus" governance model based on multiple stakeholders. Holder votes and community committee votes can be used to gauge sentiment and provide reference for decision-making but are not binding. Protocol changes typically require broad support from both the community committee and holders, but the final decision rests with stakeholders who actually operate and use the network, such as node operators, miners, exchanges, wallets, and users.
Zcash governance relies on rough consensus formed by multiple parties, including holders and community groups. Holder polls are only used to measure opinions and are not binding on-chain votes. No single group can independently drive protocol changes. This governance model allows for coordinated network upgrades when needed while preventing any single group from unilaterally pushing protocol changes.
