Circle CPTO responds: What if Arc gets hacked for hundreds of millions—would a rollback happen?
Circle's Chief Product and Technology Officer, Nikhil Chandhok (@chandhok), was interviewed by Bankless (@Bankless) on September 16. During the interview, he was asked whether Circle would consider rolling back the blockchain if lending protocols like Aave deployed on Arc were attacked by Lazarus, resulting in tens or even hundreds of millions of USDC being stolen.
Nikhil did not commit to a specific course of action but emphasized that Arc is an immutable public financial infrastructure with over 20 validators. He stated that rolling back the blockchain is an extremely significant decision. Breaking the principle of immutability could fundamentally erode trust, and such trust is incredibly difficult to rebuild.
